Meet Horst Proebstl–Technical Service Representative

NEOGARD is pleased to announce the addition of Horst Proebstl to the newly created position of Field Technical Service Representative based in Florida.

Horst has many years of experience working most aspects of the roof contracting business, the most recent 10+ years of which have been with a roofing contractor based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Horst has practical knowledge of TPO, EPDM, tile, shingle, hot, torch, and spray polyurethane foam roof systems. Horst will initially focus on troubleshooting, application training, and warranty inspection of our Direct Bond and SPF Roof Coatings business within the State of Florida.

In my travels, I have consistently been asked by contractors, reps, distributors and owners how to estimate energy and peak demand savings for flat roofs with non-black surfaces.

It was Developed by the U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Version 2.0) and this version of the calculator is for large facilities that purchase electricity with a demand charge based on peak monthly load. If your customer has a small or medium-sized facility that purchases electricity without a demand charge, run the CoolCalcEnergy version to estimate the savings in energy charges from using solar radiation control.

Both are very easy to use and take into account regional and local vagaries.

Recently posted to NEOGARD’s web site is a LEED Product Information letter on our new 8500 BioDegradable Cleaner. If your project falls within a 500 mile radius of Dallas, Texas, the product is considered to be locally produced material and can help contribute to earning MR Credit 5.1.

NEOGARD introduces 8500 BioDegradable Cleaner (BDC) – its first general purpose cleaner for the construction industry. BDC is a water soluble concentrate designed to remove dirt from roofs, walls and floors and is ideally used in substrate preparation prior to the application of construction coatings. It is a non-toxic, bio-based environmentally friendly product.

Tietex T272 Fabric Sales Opportunity

NEOGARD now has the opportunity to sell Tietex T272 Polyester fabric. T272 is a 100% stitch-bonded fabric made without the use of adhesives that provides outstanding physical strength, unique elongation, quick wet-out and saturation, and ease of application.

In an attempt to launch this program, Tietex International Ltd. is willing to drop ship orders for us with a minimum 10 roll order. The spun-bond polyester rolls are 6” x 300’ and guess who the first sales award goes to; Jim Rogers. Who would of thought?

We are taking this opportunity to build some short-term momentum. Once we get a handle on stocking requirements, we’ll bring rolls in by the pallet.

Please let your distributors and/or contractors know about this arrangement. This product is excellent for reinforcing modified bitumen seams on direct bond roofs (required), metal roof horizontal laps, flashings, penetrations and transitions – all using a 3-course assembly of 7419 + Tietex + 7419. The high build version of 7419 would work best.

With the bio-based surface cleaner and now TieTex fabric, we have removed another reason for our applicators and distributors to look elsewhere for accessory products. What’s next? Roller covers, jiffy mixers? Let me know your thoughts.

Ending Dependence on Petroleum Based Resources

PERMATHANE II FR BIO allows compliance with LEED and other industry standards. The system has a Class A Spread of Flame fire rating per ASTM E108, and exhibits excellent tensile and elongation.

The system has been installed successfully on hundreds of thousands of square feet and has withstood severe hail as well as 90 MPH wind gusts. PERMATHANE II FR BIO has a bio-content of 36%, far exceeding the minimum requirement of 20% set by the USDA Bio-preferred program.
